Cheap Home Alarm System

Most people when asked would like a home security burglar alarm system but often cannot afford one. It is essential that we secure our homes to the best we can afford but how can those on a shoestring budget achieve this?

One of the cheapest home security systems is one that you build yourself. For those keen on do-it-yourself this is not as difficult a task as it may sound. Building and self installing your own home security can be fun and rewarding and will be a fraction of the cost of a real system.

Firstly, you need a plan and you need to make an evaluation of your property, paying particular consideration to vulnerable, weak areas where burglars may attempt to get into your property. Use common sense – check broken doors or windows and get these fixed as soon as possible. It will cost a lot less than signing up with a home security company to protect that broken door or window. Look at the locks on your doors – are they sturdy enough? If not, then look at fitting deadbolt door locks.

Put yourself in the mind of the burglar. How would you then break into your property? Look at the ways in and out of your property and count how many need to have protection. You will then need to research and have a look around both the local electronic suppliers and on the internet. Make a short list of systems that will provide your requirements. Look for kits that you can build yourself and look for low end home security systems – they are not as expensive as you may think.

Many expensive home alarm systems offer the addition of carbon monoxide detectors or smoke detectors. These are very important devices as they could save your life but if you are on a budget you can still have similar sensors but without the cost. Buy stand alone smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. They don’t connect to your security system but will still be as effective in warning you of danger so you and your family can evacuate your home in the event of an emergency, thus saving your lives.

Home alarm systems often consist of security cameras as part of the package. These are highly effective in deterring the burglar but they are also expensive so what alternatives are there? Fortunately you can purchase dummy security cameras that look just like the real thing. These are a fantastic substitute of the real security camera system and are a fraction of the cost. You can again install this yourself as no cabling will be necessary. Some of them are often battery powered to illuminate a flashing light.
