Home Security On A Budget – Is It Possible?
If you are not taking your home security seriously then you are taking an enormous
risk. To those that think burglary or robbery will not happen to them –they need
to think again. With crime on the increase it has never been a better time to increase
your home security. Be smart – don’t get caught out and make the burglar move on.
So you may want increase your home security but have very little money to achieve
it. Is it really possible to achieve a high level of security of a budget? By following
a few simple steps it can actually cost you less than you think.
How many times have you gone out and forgot to shut a window or even a door? Most
of us have done this – but don’t realize the massive security risk in doing so.
As over two thirds of burglars enter through an open door or window it can be seen
how important it is to keep them shut when you leave your property.
For your exterior you should strongly consider external security lighting. This
security device is inexpensive and easy to install. Get a light that has a built
in PIR movement detector so that it gets switched on if someone is in the vicinity
of your property. Burglars don’t like to be viewed when trying to break into a property
so lighting is sure to put them off. Make sure you install the light high up – so
that it cannot be tampered with.
In the interior of your home, you need to give the illusion that someone is at home,
especially in the evening or at night. A simple way to achieve this is by using
timer devices that can switch your lighting on and off at various intervals. You
can get timers that fit directly into your light sockets or timers that plug into
the wall socket for controlling freestanding table lamps.
Outside, be sure to trim trees, shrubs and bushes so the burglar has no place to
hide whilst he attempts to stalk your property. Lay some gravel just outside your
windows – so if someone tries to look in then you will hear their footsteps in the
gravel.
Finally, if you are still really concerned about your home security but have little
money then there are plenty of inexpensive burglar alarm systems on the market today.
If you opt for a wireless home security alarm system then you can install this yourself
and save on installation costs.
