Home Surveillance Systems
When we think about home surveillance security systems we think about something
that is watching over our property, keeping us safe. One of the most reliable and
effective ways of improving your home security is by installing security cameras.
They allow you to both monitor and record activity that is taking place around the
immediate area of your property.
Where is the best place to locate a security camera? In order to make the most effective
use of your camera security system it is vital that it is positioned correctly.
Primarily, all entry/exit points of your property need to be monitored, preferably
using a high resolution, quality camera in order to acquire close up face shot images
of anyone entering or exiting from your home. For security cameras placed inside
your home, chose a wide angle color camera which should be positioned in corridors
or rooms where you would expect a lot of usage or where items of high value are
located.
Do I need a black and white or color security camera? Black and white cameras have
a better ability to “see” in low lighting conditions and are a lot cheaper but obviously
don’t give the detail that a color camera can deliver. If you are a tight budget
then black and white cameras will be sufficient and still better than no camera
at all.
Which is best - a wireless or hardwired security camera? Hardwired cameras are great
for properties requiring permanent monitoring or if your current security system
is hardwired. Wireless security cameras are very quick to install and can be installed
wherever you need them, provided they are in range of the receiver unit. You can
also take them with you if you move house. As there are no unsightly wires to attract
attention, they are extremely inconspicuous. The only downside to wireless is that
you have the replace the batteries regularly.
Overall, security cameras significantly enhance you home surveillance and allow
you to safely monitor your property as well as providing protection by recording
the images which can later be provided in a court of law to convict the burglar.
