What Are The Best Home Security Cameras?

There is a wide range of security cameras on the market today so how do we go about choosing the best camera? There are two main types of camera and these are wired or wireless. Both have their pros and cons.

Wired surveillance cameras are a more permanent fixture and offer resilience and reliability. However, there will be a cost to installation – unless you feel confident installing one yourself. Once installed, they are more difficult to move so it is pretty much fixed in the location you choose to have it installed. Consider buying a more sophisticated camera that has movement and zoom capabilities.

A wireless security camera offers the opportunity of an easy install so most homeowners could comfortably install one. This will obviously save considerably on installation costs. Unlike the wired camera, a wireless camera can easily be moved and re-located if so desired, provided it still is in range of the receiver unit. Also, if you move house you can take your wireless camera with you – no need to start all over again in your new house. These are excellent for those renting a property as they can be taken out and took with you when you move. The only real downside to a wireless security camera is that you will have the replace batteries now and again – but this is a small price to pay – given the flexibility of these home security devices.

You don’t need to be well-off to afford a security camera as great cameras are available for around $70-$80 with internet capability. This means that you can watch your CCTV anywhere in the world on an internet enabled PC. This offers so much peace of mind and reassurance that you can actually see your house while you are a long way from it. The camera often has a web server built into it so this negates the need to have it permanently connected to a PC. It will be able to steam images directly to the internet. So if you enter the IP address of the camera from anywhere on the internet, once you have entered the username and password you will be able to access and view the images.

Some cameras will even email you when they are activated.
